Hart Canyon RDV

2010 Rules

These rules are applicable to all participants and campers at ALL times.  If you are either unwilling or unable to abide by all these rules, we respectfully request that you seek another rendezvous to attend.

 

CAMPING RULES:

  1. You have one (1) hour to unlead your gear and REMOVE YOUR VEHICLE from camp.
  2. When breaking camp (except on last Sunday) do so before bringing your vehicle into camp.
  3. Tipis, tents and lean-to's covered with hides, constructed of white or off-white tenting, plain or appropriately painted will be concidered acceptable shelters in the primitive area.
  4. Any modern equipment, plastic or other modern water containers and/or ice chests must be covered.
  5. Flashlights, electric lanterns, or Coleman-type lanterns are not allowed.  NO Coleman or other liquid fuels are allowed for fire starting or any other reason.
  6. All food and drinks must be served in pre-1840 type containers.
  7. Due to the road, we strongly recommend no motor homes or house trailers.  A small tin-tipi area away from the primitive camp is available for modern tents and truck-campers.
  8. Hart Canyon is a primitive family rendezvous.  Please watch your camp, your outfit, your partners and the late hour of the evening.  By midnight the camp should be quite.

REMEMBER THAT THE ROAD IS ROUGH AND RV'S ARE NOT RECOMMENDED

 

CAMP FIRE RULES:

  1. Open fires are allowed only in the primitive area.  No open fires are allowed in the tin tipi or parking area.
  2. You are responsible for keeping your fire under control at all times.  Whatever the weather, liquid fuels including BBQ starter are not allowed.
  3. Cutting firewood is NOT permitted from any standing tree - dead or not. No chain saws  are allowed at any time or any where.
  4. NO vehicles can be used to RE-STOCK.
  5. HORSE CAMP IS RESTRICTED FOR THOSE ACCMPANIED BY LIVE STOCK.
  6. BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD AND PRACTICE GOOD FIRE SKILLS - PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!!

 

DRESS CODE:

  1. Pre-1840 style dress is mandatory for all campers in the primitive area from arrival to departure.
  2. Rounded toe Wellington boots, Dyer moccasins, and high button shoes are acceptable.  (Prosthetic devices for medical reasons are exempted).
  3. Children must be in appropriate primitive dress -- including shoes -- no matter the weather.

 

SHOOTING RULES:

  1. Absolutely NO cannons, revolving pistols (THIS INCLUDES PATTERSON PISTOLS), breechloaders or cartridge type firearms of any kind allowed.
  2. Absolutely NO loaded firearms allowed in camp.  Violators will be escorted out of the rendezvous.
  3. Absolutely NO alcohol is allowed on or near the range or any shooting event.
  4. There is no shooting, either as events or informally, on the FIRST SATURDAY or the LAST SUNDAY of the rendezvous.
  5. Only open iron sights are allowed, no optics except glasses.

SAFETY SHOULD BE THE FIRST CONSIDERATION

TRADERS:

  1. Traders are welcome.  THERE ARE NEW TRADER FEES.
  2. All traders are subject to the same rules as all other participants.
  3. All trade and blanket goods must comply with the spirit of pre-1840
  4. Books, catalogues, and art (original or print), which pertain to the fur trade era are considered acceptable for trade.
  5. All trading must take place within the confines of the primitive camp.  There are no "tail-gate" sales or trading allowed in the tin-tipi or parking area.
  6. Absolutely NO goods listed as "ILLEGAL" under California Fish and Game or federal wildlife rules will be allowed in or near this event.
  7. All food vendors are responsible for their products, their licenses, etc.

PETS AND HORSES:

As of 2003, pets are again allowed at Hart Canyon Rendezvous.  However, the club sincerely requests that all pet owners use care and discretion.  The longevity of this rule depends upon the pet owne.

  1. No more than two (2) dogs are to be in any camp.
  2. All pets must be supervised and under full control at all times.  That means leashes must be reasonable and pickets sturdy.  For participants, leashes must be primitive (plain rope rather than pink nylon).
  3. A noisy or unfriendly animal (or owner) is unwelcome.  As with any problem, the Booshway has the final say.
  4. Owners are to clean up after their pets, both while in camp and out-and-about.  Dispose of waste properly.
  5. No dogs are allowed on the range, near any shooting event, and are not recommened at camp meetings.
  6. If you are considering bringing a horse or mule, please contact the Booshway for information.  Livestock is totally the responsibility of the owner.  Areas for riding are very limited.

THIEVERY:

  1. Thievery of any kind will be dealth with in camp.
